Wooden packaging material (WPM) is increasingly used to protect commodities from bumping while in transport.

Since 2005, the use of WPM in import and export consignments has been strictly controlled with the adoption of the ISPM 15 standard on a global scale.

ISPM 15 is a phytosanitary standard issued by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the World (FAO) that prescribes phytosanitary measures to reduce the risk of appearance and spreading of insects, pests associated with packaging materials made from untreated raw wood in international trade.

ISPM 15 includes 02 treatment methods:

o Treatment with Methyl Bromide (MB)

o Heat treatment  (HT)

According to ISPM15 standard: All WPM must be stamped according to specific regulations as follows:

• Seal must be in a conspicuous position, at least on opposite sides of the WPM (Do not stamp the top-bottom as people cannot see the underside of the WPM).

• Do not use red or orange ink. According to the regulations of the Plant Protection Department of Vietnam, the color used is usually blue.

• Stamp on all WPM in containers such as wooden bales, wooden frames, and lids…. And make sure all the characters inside the seal are clearly shown.

Stamps are accepted in these cases:

For commodities packed with pallet

Stamps are not accepted in these cases:

Please take note that if your consignment does not follow instructions or meet the standard of ISPM 15, you will have to pay compensation, or your consignment will be returned.
